Design Heritage and Smart Power in the New 2019 Mazda CX-5
The CX-5’s exterior was carefully designed by Takumi craftsmen, resulting in a vehicle that incorporates the principles of Kodo “Soul of Motion” Design. Each trim integrates this concept within every feature. The GX trim includes heated side mirrors, auto LED headlights, weather-sensing wipers, and many safety features. Added to the GS line are a front wiper de-icer, lane departure warning, and auto high beams. The GT builds on this with LED fog lights, power folding mirrors, signature front and rear lights, and much more. The Signature’s 19-inch alloy wheels with a gunmetal finish top the standard equipment offerings.
This compact SUV is powered by a 2.5 L four-cylinder that generates 187 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque, which is best-in-class. This engine is standard in the GX, GS, and GT trims, with the turbocharged version optional in the GT and standard in the Signature. Fuel consumption is rated at an efficient 7.6 L/100 km and 9.3 L/100km. The six-speed automatic transmission enables a smooth trip and responsive acceleration.
Independent suspension assembles with coil springs and a stabilizer bar contribute to the CX-5’s steady handling. The GX and GS trims have a standard front-wheel drive with optional AWD, while the GT and Signature trims have standard AWD.
A Calm Interior for the 2019 Mazda CX-5
The CX-5 has one of the quietest interiors in its class and comes well-equipped with standard features. The GX includes a 7.0-inch infotainment touchscreen, heated front seats, push-button start, and power windows and doors. The GS adds a six-speaker stereo, radar cruise, and upgraded safety features. Upgrades in the GT trim include 10-speaker radio, leather upholstery, 10-way powered driver’s seat, and a 6-way powered passenger seat.
